On the lower slopes of Kilimanjaro, hidden in the lush Chagga farmland above Moshi, the Materuni Waterfall drops 60 metres into a crystal pool surrounded by tropical vegetation. The hike to reach it is beautiful and accessible — 2–3 hours through small farms where Chagga families have cultivated coffee and bananas for generations.\n\nAfter swimming in the pool beneath the waterfall, your guide takes you to a local coffee farm where you learn the complete process: picking ripe coffee cherries, hulling them, drying them, roasting over an open fire, and grinding them with a mortar before brewing the freshest cup of coffee you've ever tasted. A farm lunch of traditional Chagga food rounds out an exceptional cultural experience.
